DESCRIPTION:

The Passiflora 'Aida' was a very interesting hybrid, one of many made by Lepold Ševcìk, a prolific Czechoslovakian breeder. I had it in cultivation some years ago and now I think it is definitely extinct.
The combination is rare, indeed unique, because Ševcìk crossed P. x decaisneana with pollen of P. oerstedii.
It had produced a large flower, 10 cm, with an elegant and showy crown. The leaves were trilobate.
The corolla, of intense purple color, was enriched by a large crown of the same color. The filaments were slightly curled at the apex and turned white.
Sorry to have lost this beautiful hybrid.
