ETYMOLOGY:

Alwin Berger was a German botanist (1871-1931) who made an important contribution to the nomenclature of succulent plants. He worked at the Dresden and Frankfurt am Main Botanical Gardens and was curator of the Hanbury Botanical Gardens in Ventimiglia.
